part of the activities on a weekend at Lapwing Lodge

To the south of the town of Barrhead lies the hill called Duncarnock (669ft), known locally as “the Craigie”. A tradition has developed at South & Levern of having an expedition starting from the church gates at 7 am on Easter Sunday morning (recapturing the time of day when the empty tomb was discovered) and culminating in a short service on the summit about an hour later. After this and when the youngest present have rolled their Easter eggs, we return to the church for a breakfast, prior to the Easter morning service in church at 11 am.

Nearer to Heaven?
